Week 31

Ashley: "Mommy, I can't wait to tickle my new little sister and kiss her and hug her. I'm gonna teach her how to ride her bike. I'm gonna teach her everything. I'm gonna help her grow up and grow down."

"Mommy, do pumpkins have cheeks?"

Mommy: "Yes Ash, they can have cheeks and anything else you would like them to."

This year for Halloween Megan wanted to be Giselle from one of her favorite movies, Enchanted:

Megan wasn't in the mood for her picture to be taken so I didn't push it. She just wanted to collect the autumn leaves and have me take pictures of those instead.

And Ashley debated between being Thumbelina or Spidergirl for Halloween but ended up going with Thumbelina because she knows the story and loves it:

Week 30

Week 30 for me was the week of Halloween. I let Megan take the photo for that week. Both of our girls love to take pictures but we usually just let them use our "point and shoot" camera. They get some pretty funny pictures which I should post sometime. Anyway, I straped our other camera around Megan's neck and let her snap away. I'm impressed. We are actually in focus and nobody got their head chopped off (barely). I liked this photo the best for Week 30. Thank you Meggy-Boo!

Thanks to my sister, I dressed up in an old indian costume that she and her friend T.P. made years ago. It fit very comfortably. Thanks April for letting me borrow it! She also has this great Mr. Potato Head costume that she and T.P. made which I would have worn because I thought I'd fill it out pretty nicely but she took it with her when she moved to Seattle, dang it.

Anyway, this week I've noticed the baby having hiccups. When I tell Megan and Ashley they try to stick their ears on my belly because they want to "hear the hiccups".

I'm looking forward to holding this little one in my arms for many reasons but one of those reasons is just so I'll have a good lap back to be able to hold Megan and Ashley too. I've been really missing that lately. I don't feel like I can hold them the way I'd like to when they are sitting on my lap. They don't complain. I just miss it.

Home Video: I'm a Little Fat Witch

This is a Halloween song the girls learned in preschool and they've been singing it all around our house. It's a short song so they sang it twice.

First snow fall

Mommy: "Look it's snowing outside!"

Megan: "Is Santa coming?"

Ashley: "Is our baby going to come out now?"

Mommy (to herself): "I hope not, I'm not ready for either!"

Week 29

Megan: "Mommy if there's somethin' on the floor you gotta get I'll pick it up for you so you don't have-ta bend over."

Mommy: "That's the sweetest thing I've heard all day!"

This picture was taken last week by our home in a place Devin and I love to run. We had actually gone over to this area to fly a kite because there is also a wide open grassy area that's great for kite flying.

Why on earth were we flying a kite? Well, Mommy had spent part of the afternoon cleaning out a closet that will be the baby's closet! There was an old kite in the back of the closet that Ashley was really excited about when she saw it. I don't think we've ever taken the girls out to fly a kite since they were born. Shame on us. Every kid has to try that. So we went and flew our kite in the middle of October and had fun doing it. There wasn't much wind but just enough to keep the kite up so the girl's could hold on to it without the kite flying out of control.

And Mommy was the only one that got hit in the head with the kite. No brain damage done...

Four year old wellness checkup

Both of our girls had their four year old wellness checkups today. It was the happiest I've ever seen them at the doctor's office. Maybe it was because they didn't need any shots, or maybe it was because Grandma Deanna came too so that I could have some help (thanks Mom!).

Both girls are in the 90th percentile for their height and weight... nothing new here, they've been that way the last few years. We've got tall genes on both sides of our family. I still say it's pretty darn good though for premies who weren't even big enough to be on the charts when they were born.

The Ages and Stages Questionnarie had a question that asked if your child is able to cut a somewhat straight line with scissors. I told the doctor to look and Megan's bangs and tell me what he thought.

Ashley was so dang good at the eye test that she was literally able to pick her nose while she did it. It was a proud Mommy moment.

And since posts are kinda boring without photos... here's a completely random picture from the other week when we were cleaning out our garden:

Those are swiss chard leaves that went out of control. No worries, they didn't go to waste. After they were used as fans and swords they made it into our fabulous composte pile.

The Fix

I have to laugh at how many people have told me the last few days that I should put the purple wig on Megan for her school pictures!

This is our fix for now. I couldn't bring myself to cut all of her bangs as short as she had cut them so I just combed more hair in front and cut more bangs to try and cover up the "other" bangs. I know it still shows if you stare at it but I'm hoping most people won't even notice.

She makes me laugh. What a great story she will have to tell about her first school pictures. I can't wait to see what they look like. I hope she doesn't mind when she gets older... I'm half to blame for it... long story. At least it happened at age four and not age sixteen. Maybe I need to knock on wood.

Guess who cut her hair... again?

And tomorrow morning is their school pictures. Oh ya. I'm still trying to figure out how to cover up this one. Last time I got lucky.

Ashley: "Look Mommy we cut our hair because it was too long."

Mommy: **gasp**

Mommy: "Um, Ashley where did you cut your hair? Megan's cut is obvious but I can't see yours."

Ashley: "I cut it in the kitchen."

Mommy: "O.k. right, but I can't see any damage. You're lucky it's not noticable. Megan how are we going to fix that for your school pictures tomorrow?"

Megan: "Oh its o.k. Mommy, I'll just comb it with water."
__________

(Later during the dinner prayer):

Megan: "... and please bless Daddy that he won't get mad at us and tell us to never cut our hair again."

Awesome. Awesome. Artwork.

Ashley: "Look Mommy! I wrote my name and drawed a picture of me and Megan!"

Mommy: "Wow Ash! That's awesome! I especially love the noses."

Ashley: "And look on the odder side I drawed your belly with our baby inside!"

Mommy: "Wow! That's awesome. And she even has a nose just like you and Megan."

Megan: "Mommy I painted a picture of Grandpa Wayne! Here is his head, and this is his hips, and these are his really long, long legs. And these are silly slides he is going down. Let's give it to him."

Mommy: "He will love it. He's pretty proud of his hips and long, long legs."
